ta2013Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Neal Morse is the founding member of Spock’s Beard, the Neal Morse band and Transatlantic, the latter of which also features drummer Mike Portnoy [Dream Theater], Roine Stolt [The Flower Kings] and Pete Trewavas [Marillion].

In the video below, Neal chats with Guitarhoo! about his early years making music in Southern California and moving to Nashville, Tennessee; the formation of Transatlantic; the recording of upcoming Transatlantic record, “Kaleidoscope”; preparations for a world tour in 2014; upcoming solo projects in the New Year; and much more.

Transatlantic will release its fourth studio album, “Kaleidoscope”, on January 27, 2014 via InsideOut Music.

The official video for the song “Shine” can be seen below. The clip was filmed in September in London, England.

“Kaleidoscope” will be released on four different formats, including a limited-edition deluxe artbook with 2CDs, DVD and bonus 5.1 mix DVD-video in an LP-sized book with loads of pictures, liner notes and a lenticular card cover. There will also be 2CD and DVD mediabook, standard 2CD jewelcase and a 3LP and 2CD in slipcase. Pre-orders for the album will begin on the InsideOut shop on December 27.

Transatlantic will embark on a six-week world tour that will see them joined once again by Pain Of Salvation‘s Daniel Gildenlöw as a fifth touring member. As part of the extensive tour, the band will also headline the Progressive Nation At Sea 2014 cruise from February 18 until February 22 alongside 22 other leading prog acts. This unique performance will see the band performing a very special encore of classic YES material with the legendary Jon Anderson on vocals. To give a little taste of what it may sound like,  an exclusive sneak preview of one of the bonus tracks from Transatlantic‘s upcoming “Kaleidoscope” CD: a cover of the all-time great Prog classic Yes ‘And You And I’ can be streamed here.
