‘Mad Max’ Frontman ‘Michael Voss’ On New Album – “We Are Following The Roots Of 1987 But The Vibe Is New”

Twenty-five years after the release of the legendary Night Of Passion album, German hard rock band Mad Max  have returned with the original line-up —Michael Voss (lead vocals, lead guitars), Jürgen Breforth (rhythm guitars), Roland Bergmann (bass, vocals) and Axel Kruse (drums) — and released their new studio album, Another Night Of Passion on March 23rd in Germany. It will be released on March 26th in the rest of Europe via SPV/Steamhammer. An excerpt from an interview with Michael Voss conducted by Greece’s Rockpages is available below:

Rockpages.gr: When I first saw the title, I wondered if this would be a re-recorded version of your classic Night of Passion record. Did you worry that maybe some of the fans would get confused over that?

Michael Voss: “No, we never thought about it. When we were talking about the album’s title, it was really Olly Hann from SPV who had the idea of calling the record Another Night Of Passion because what we were doing really was coming up with songs that were in the same style as the Night Of Passion record. We could have called it Night Of Passion II but this is something that has been used too many times in the past. We are following the roots of 1987 but the vibe is new!”

Rockpages.gr: Mad Max celebrates 30 years in the music business. Did you ever expect that you will be making such a long career and do you feel fulfilled with what you have achieved so far?

Michael Voss: “I want to achieve more things and continue being active in the music business. But, you are right…when I started I was 17 years old. I am nearly 47 now. It was a dream come true for me as I was able to express myself through music…that’s what I always wanted. I hope that I will continue because I have met so many great musicians and so many great people all over the planet…I am blessed!”
