Earlier this week, As I Lay Dying teased us with their first new music since 2012. Today (7th), the group released their first song ‘My Own Grave’ via in Japan, since it’s already tomorrow over there.

The track premiered on the Japanese iTunes store and you can hear a small sample of it. A few people managed to grab the track to post what they could on their YouTube Channel. However, it looks like most of these clips have been taken down. Looks like we will have to wait until tomorrow (8th) to listen to ‘My Own Grave’ in its entirety.

In May 2014, As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis was sentenced to six years in jail after pleading guilty to paying a San Diego police officer posing as a hit man $1,000 to kill his wife. Approximately two and a half years later — on December 17, 2016 — he was discharged from a California detention facility and was transferred to the Division of Adult Parole Operations.

Last December, Lambesis released a statement in which he apologized to his former wife and children for his “appalling actions.” He also accepted responsibility for being “the sole offender and the only one to blame for everything that happened.”

Awakened, the sixth album from As I Lay Dying, has been released Sept. 25  2012 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was produced by Bill Stevenson, who has played drums for both the Descendents and Black Flag and is one of the most highly renowned producers in rock. His production credits include work on records by Rise AgainstNOFXPropaghandi, The Casualties and many more. The album was mixed by Colin Richardson  [Machine Head, Napalm Death, Slipknot].
