Lancer is Classic melodic heavy metal in the vein of Iron Maiden, Helloween & Gamma Ray. Their debut album will be released early next year, Jan. 18th 2013 [Dec. 26th 2012 in Japan. With the EP Purple Sky, Lancer invaded the Swedish metal scene, during the spring of 2012. The love and passion for melodic metal was obvious, and fans of Iron Maiden, Helloween and Gamma Ray were not disappointed! The five guys in the band met at the Music Academy of Ingesund, Arvika – Sweden back in 2009, and the common interest for metal made it unavoidable to form the band. Ever since then Lancer have performed at several pubs and Swedish festivals, collected the top-position in a Swedish competition for unsigned bands in 2011.
With an energetic show and technical brilliance on stage these young rockers leave no one untouched. Through the positive response in reviews world wide, the Purple Sky EP rendered in a record deal with swedish label Doolittle Group AB managed by the well-known metal vocalist Christian Liljegren [Golden Resurrection, ex-Narnia].
The sound of Lancer is often compared to a mix between Iron Maiden and Helloween with a little touch of the typical Swedish melodic metal sound. Lancer’s image stands out from the crowd with futuristically designed metal costumes mixed with a large amount of the 80’s metal scene, along with an armed battle ostrich as their mascot.
The vocalist Isak Stenvall has a very powerful and personal tone in his voice, inspired by Michael Kiske [ex-Helloween] and Joacim Cans [Hammerfall]. On stage he is an energetic and charismatic front figure that always spellbounds the audience.
The two guitarists Peter Ellström and Fredrik Kelemen forms a perfect unit of heavy guitar riffing and innovative melody harmonies that brings an old fashioned heavy metal touch to the power metal sound.
The bass player Emil Öberg has an aggressive, technical and fast style of performing, with a lot of inspiration from Steve Harris [Iron Maiden] and Dirk Schlächter [Gamma Ray]. Emil’s bass figures brings a whole extra dimension to the sound of the band.
The drummer Sebastian Pedernera has his roots in the Swedish death metal scene but draws his inspiration from everything between extreme metal to swedish underground jazz. His varied and forceful style of playing forms the very foundation which Lancer’s music stand upon.
The trademark of the band will always be the songs and their feeling for making hit melodies, over technical virtuosity.
