‘For Today’ Announces European Dates for “Farewell Tour” 2016

FT_2016For Today have enjoyed a productive decade-plus as a band, but it’s all about to come to an end. The group recently announced that they will embark on a 2016 “Farewell Tour” before officially calling it a career.

In a statement, the band revealed that the decision to split was an amicable one and that their friendships will last beyond the final note the band plays. Their statement on the matter can be read below:

“After over 11 years as a band, six full-length albums and one EP, we have decided to make 2016 the last year of For Today. When we started this band in 2005, we never imagined that our music would make it out of Sioux City, Iowa, let alone take us all around the world multiple times. Our lives have been hugely impacted by the time we’ve spent making music and touring. We met our wives, had kids, and relocated to different states because of For Today. It’s been an incredible experience, but we feel like now is the time to close this chapter of our lives and move on.There’s no behind-the-scenes drama happening or disagreements between band members. We’re all still best friends and will continue to be long after the band is over. We want to thank everybody who has made this possible, especially the fans who have kept us going for so many years. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’re doing an extensive farewell tour, hitting all our favorite cities in the country, as well as some international dates. Come hang out with us one last time and let’s make these last shows some that we’ll never forget! — For Today”

Siblings Ryan and Brandon Leitru have been with the band since 2005, with unclean vocalist Mattie Montgomery joining in 2007. Drummer David Puckett joined in 2012, and bassist Jim Hughes is the newest member, having joined in 2015. As stated, the band released six full length albums, with 2012’s “Immortal” achieving the highest chart position at No. 15 on the Billboard 200. The band’s most recent effort, “Wake” was released last fall through Nuclear Blast.

Our review of “Wake” can be found here.

They’ll kick things off Sept. 14 in Iowa City, Iowa, with a North American leg continuing into early October. After that, the band will travel to South American and Europe, before returning for a final second North American leg in November and December. The final date will take place Dec. 15 in Chicago.
