Flyleaf logoMosh Pit Report conducted an interview with Flyleaf before the band’s February 28 performance at Irving Plaza in New York City. You can now watch the chat below.

Flyleaf‘s new lineup made its live debut on November 1 last year at the Grand Stafford Theater in Bryan, Texas in front of a sold-out capacity crowd of 400. The show featured the debut of new singer Kristen May, who replaced original vocalist Lacey Sturm after the latter abruptly departed the group in October 2012.

Flyleaf is currently on a U.S. tour with Drowning Pool, remaining dates and locaties are listed also below:

Sturm left the band on the eve of the release of its third album, New Horizons, which came out on October 30 and sold 20,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 16 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Sturm issued a statement about her exit from the group she co-founded, saying, “I am very thankful to have recently become a mom to one of the greatest blessings of my life, my son Jack . . . I understand that, for me, living life to the fullest in this season means to step down as the lead singer for Flyleaf.”

The new album follows up 2009′s Memento Mori and Flyleaf‘s self-titled 2005 debut, which have combined to sell more than 1.6 million copies in the U.S.

“Some fans may miss the husky moans of Lacey Sturm, but in my opinion, the members of Flyleaf found an even stronger musician in Kristen May. It’s cool how she can deliver screeches combined with bell tones in the same breath! The guitar and bass lines are strong and tight. The drum patterns are simple, yet consistent. “New Horizons” is a lovely introduction to a new start in Flyleaf’s career. In their case, change is definitely a good thing.”
