‘Eluveitie’ ‘The Early Years’ Release Coming In August

On August 17th, 2012 Eluveitie will release a new (double-)CD named “The Early Years”. This package will include, as you may have guessed, songs from Eluveitie’s early years. To be more exact, all titles from the very first EP “Vên” as well as our complete debut album “Spirit”, both of which have remained sold out for some time now.

As if that weren’t enough, we there’s more: We have decided to completely re-record the full EP “Vên”, again with our producer and good friend Tommy Vetterli at the Newsound studios (where “Helvetios” was produced, as well). And on top of that, they will (self-) release a special edition of “The Early Years” that will feature a never before released song called “Divico” – also newly recorded within the last few weeks. This edition (physical as well as digital) will be available exclusively through their own online store and at Eluveitie‘s live shows! The new track will not be included in the standard retail version.

We are extremely excited about this release, and Chrigel comments:

” ‘The Early Years’ will give both old and new fans access to the very first steps in Eluveitie’s history. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already! Speaking of that, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary (2002-2012) we wanted to offer you something special. Therefore we have decided to re-record the tracks of our first EP ’Vên’! We had a lot of fun putting those songs on tape again – some of which we have been playing live to this day and that have developed together with us over all these years. With ‘Divico’ we have finally completed a song that has been in the works forever. We are happy to be able to present this little “classic” to you now – good things take time to ripen!”

Eluveitie’s edition of “The Early Years” will be available for pre-order starting in a few weeks – more on that soon!

Helvetios, the new album from Swiss folk metallers Eluveitie, sold 4,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 143 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at position No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums [Heatseekers] chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

Helvetios was released in Europe on February 10 via Nuclear Blast RecordsNew Sound Studio in Pfäffikon, a municipality in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland, with producer Tommy Vetterli [a.k.a. Tommy T. Baron; Coroner/ex-Kreator guitarist]. According to the band, Vetterli“record[ed] drums, guitars and vocals and also produc[ed] and mix[ed] the record. Most folk instruments and also vocals [were] recorded by Anna Murphy and Marco Jencarelli at the Soundfarm studios in Lucerne.”

The Havoc video can be seen below. The clip was produced by the Polish company Grupa13, which previously worked with the band on the videos for Thousandfold and A Rose For Epona as well as with such other acts as Behemoth and Aman Amarth.

Eluveitie has just completed a North American tour as the support act for Finnish metallers Children Of Bodom. The trek kicked off on January 30 in Rochester, New York and ran through March 4, hitting 26 cities over the course of the five-week jaunt. Boston-based extreme metal band Revocation and Canada’s Threat Signal were also on the bill.
