Jordan Mancino (drums), Nick Hipa (guitar), Phil Sgrosso (guitar) and Josh Gilbert (bass) of San Diego, California-based metal act As I Lay Dying have teamed up with vocalist Shane Blay (previously lead guitar/clean vocals in Oh Sleeper) to create the new band Wovenwar. Over approximately the last year, the band completed work on new material recorded with producer Bill Stevenson (Descendents, Black Flag) with mixing duties currently being handled by Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Machine Head, Trivium). On Monday April 21, fans will get their first full listen of Wonwar‘s debut single, ‘All Rise’. While not the final mastered version, the song will be a proper representation of what’s to come when Wovenwar’s self-titled debut, set to drop late summer.
As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis pleaded guilty to his role in a murder-for-hire plot.
Lambesis, 32, entered the change of plea in court Tuesday [feb. 25], admitting that he hired a hit man to kill his estranged wife.
According to Radio.com, Lambesis‘ attorney offered no stipulated plea deal, which means the judge has the freedom to apply whatever sentence he determines appropriate, with a maximum of 9 years in state prison plus 4 years parole after release.
Sentencing is set for May 2 in front of the Honorable Judge Carlos Armor.
Awakened, the sixth album from As I Lay Dying, has been released Sept. 25 2012 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was produced by Bill Stevenson, who has played drums for both the Descendents and Black Flag and is one of the most highly renowned producers in rock. His production credits include work on records by Rise Against, NOFX, Propaghandi, The Casualties and many more. The album was mixed by Colin Richardson [Machine Head, Napalm Death, Slipknot].
